2019 Student Showcase

Student Showcase 2019.jpg

Hello, my name is Emily Mertens and I am a Professional Selling major graduating this upcoming May. While at Baylor I have created a foundation for myself to be highly successful. Through my sorority, I have served as the Vice President and am the current President. During my four years in ProSales, I have seen myself grow personally and professionally. During my junior year, I competed in the Great Northwoods Sales Warm-up Competition placing 4th overall. Last semester, I competed against my peers in the Baylor Business Selling Outside Competition and placed 1st overall.

I have had the pleasure to intern for both Gartner and Sirius Computer Solutions. At Sirius, I canvased for new prospects, handled appointment setting, and shadowed Senior Client Executives daily. This past summer, I interned at Gartner. During my time at Gartner, I participated in their extensive training program. I observed the daily operations of Sales Managers and Account Executives through sales cycles for mid-size enterprise corporations. I thought critically to grow customer engagement through prospecting activities and identifying white-space in accounts. Finally, I collaborated in teams to present Gartner’s value proposition, being named a Top Presenter.

Through my leadership at Baylor, success in ProSales, and internship experience at Gartner and Sirius, I showed my strong work ethic, learned how to manage my time more effectively, and grew my interpersonal skills to a professional level. By always treating clients with care, Em & M (Emily Mertens) would be the sweetest edition to your team.
